Research project: My research project involves the development of new asymmetric organic synthesis methodologies. For this purpose, I am using chiral Organocatalysts such as proline or cinchona alkaloid derivatives to promote the functionalization of simple organic molecules in an asymmetric fashion. These methods can then be employed in the key steps of the synthesis of biologically relevant molecules and/or natural product synthesis.
Reason for coming to U. Manitoba: Since I already knew my Supervisor from when she was a Post-Doc and I a Master student, I decided to come to the U of M to pursue my Grad Studies. I thought it would be an interesting and stimulating experience to join a new research group and help establish and develop its Chemistry. I was also quite excited to come to Canada as I have been told it was a very good place to live, despite the cold, so, I wanted to check it out!
Other interests: Reading, Music and keeping up with the Champions League
