Dr. Myrle Ballard has been awarded funding to research water quality and food security in First Nations communities

Congratulations to Dr. Myrle Ballard who has just received funding from both the University Collaborative Research Program (UCRP) and University Indigenous Research Program (UIRP).

The UCRP grant will fund research in collaboration with Drs. Gregg Tomy, Tom Ward, and Ayush Kumar (Microbiology) to research water quality and food security relating to livelihoods and sustenance challenges in the 21st Century for First Nations.

The UIRP grant is in collaboration with Dr. Margaret Docker (Biological Sciences) that will define a framework for reconciling Aquatic Indigenous Knowledge and finding its rightful place vis-a-vis Western Science.
